I went to High Point Market last month and saw lots of new products, and came back with a lot of fresh inspiration. High Point Market is the largest home furnishings trade show in the world. Held twice a year in High Point, North Carolina, the event brings together over 75,000 interior designers, retailers, manufacturers, and tastemakers from across the globe.
There were more than 2,000 showrooms showcasing their new furniture collections, lighting, art, rugs, accessorites and textiles. Market is where brands debut their newest product launches, and designers can see the upcoming trends,
Some trends I spotted were:
1) Burlwood Furniture - Burlwood was everywhere - on consoles, coffee tables, side tables, casegoods, and even decorative objects. Did you know that burl wood is actually not a species of wood? It’s a type of wood grain that forms as a result of abnormal growth on a tree. The result is a beautiful intricate pattern. There were lots of great statement pieces at High Point.
2) Game Tables - I also saw lots of game tables. They’re perfect for cards, puzzles, or just hanging out with friends. Woodbridge Furniture even hosted a Mahjong Night using their fun pink-trimmed game tables.
3) Skirted Furniture - Skirted furniture is back. Once a staple of 80's interiors, skirted pieces were known for their practicality and traditional charm. But today’s versions are a completely elevated take on the classic: cleaner lines, finer tailoring, luxe fabrics, and silhouettes that feel fresh rather than frilly. There were a lot of modern takes on skirted furniture at High Point.
4) Grasscloth wrapped Furniture - Another trend I noticed at High Point Market was grasscloth-covered furniture. Pieces like these instantly add texture and visual interest to a room. Worlds Away had a lot of beautiful pieces.
You can expect to see these furniture trends popping up more and more in the coming seasons. Which one are you loving most?
